How to use the monitor calibration chart

  • dim the lights and let your eyes adjust for a minute
  • the strip above shows 23 retangles from pure black (100% ink) to pure white (0% ink)
  • goal is to adjust your monitor that you can distinguish a difference between each of the 23 wedges
  • adjust the brighness of your monitor to render black as deep black (not gray)
  • adjust the contrast
  • make sure you can distinguish the differences between ABC on the left and WVU on the right
  • in an ideal world, the gray background is rendered as neutral gray with NO color cast
