I always wanted to travel across the USA and document the country’s state and its people in our -tough- times. The summer of 2010 has been my projected date since New Year’s eve 2008 and I’m planning my trip as I write this blurb.

Chapter I
The experience of doing a road trip by car appealed to me at first, but I think of it as a very solitary experience and decided to put a different spin on my trip across the country. I will mostly utilize public transportation, namely the Amtrak and busses to meet people and interact with them; after all the human element is what makes my photographs speak to the viewer.

update:
1.) 90 days is not nearly enough time to achieve this task
2.) public transportation in America sucks, even though I’d consider a Greyhound pass the next time around
3.) Giving the project a name with a year attached to it was stupid
4.) I hope to get back on the road in 2011, possibly with an RV

What always strikes me about the subway is how people are trying to keep their privacy in such a confined space. Some manage, many don’t.

The light at night is very dynamic, eerie at times and changes the game of (street) photography, storytelling and its technical aspects completely.

My body of work, what I like to call my “puzzle” consists mostly of photographs taken on the sidewalks of New York City. One day, I hope, I will be able to escape this eclectic urban jungle, even though I love it – yet, I hate it at the same time.
