I’m just now starting to do the first edit of the year… going over the favorites and weeding them out. After a day of shooting I normally dump the files into Lightroom and rate them quickly – the “likes” get a 3-star rating, and the rest gets pretty much ignored, yet, I hardly delete any digital files.

Sometimes, if I feel like it, I’ll post a photo to the blog, and I’ll leave it at that. Every once in a while I go back into my Lightroom library and look at my keepers – a month back, this year, last week, three stars, four stars – shopping for the best stuff… you get the idea.

today, I went back to look at the 3+ rated photos from this year and I discovered a handful of duds, that I obviously rated too quickly based on the subjective emotions of the day. Months later, my idea of what constitutes a good photo may be way different from what I saw that day…
